Unilever’s SG Future 50 Leaders Programme aims to inspire a sustainable future for Singapore and create a smart nation for our next 50 years.

On 23 Sep, Unilever brought together 50 young leaders in Singapore in a conversation on Singapore’s next 50 years. Five Enactus NTU members were honoured to be amongst these 50 leaders.

For Ms Wong Li Yan, Vice President of Enactus NTU, the programme was enriching.

“We were immersed in an intellectual and fun atmosphere — giving us an acute feel of the Unilever culture. There were three main themes discussed: Sustainability, Digital Marketing, and Trends. In each segment, important questions showed us what’s happening in the world isn’t determined by demographics or circumstances; each one of us is empowered to empower those around us.”

As an EXCO member in Enactus NTU, one segment especially resonated with her.

“During the second segment when Mr. Tong Yee from the Thought Collective shared his experience with us, he said: ‘Resilience is not perseverance or determination, it’s depth of identity, the authenticity and maturity that explains why you do what you do.’ I felt a deep connection with what he said, because it brought to mind the Enactus spirit of social entrepreneurship and its core values. It reminded me why I spend so much time with my EXCO and my project teams, trying to overcome challenges like sustaining the interests and passion of my members over time. Even during the toughest moments, our purpose, our light at the end of the tunnel, is always clear to me — Creating lasting impact on the lives of each beneficiary.”
